Shelly + Raghu {Wedding}

Shelly and Ragz had their awesome engagement back in January where we shoot at the Berkley Church and Field house. We had so much fun and definitely developed a good bond in preparation for the big day. You have to check out the shoot!

Fast forward a couple months and we have arrived to their wedding date! The day began bright and early with their prep and Shelly was upbeat as ever even if she was up since 5:30! Ragz was just hanging out and even got in a good workout before we got to his suite to capture some of his prep.

We got to Apollo where everything was happening to start coverage on the ceremony, Diya Decor did a great job with the Mandap! Take notes guys, if you want to save on time, have everything at one location and get really good decor people as they can create completely different looks for the same space!

Weather was not cooperating but we had some great planning before to have some back up locations for the photoshoot in case things didn’t pan out. We headed to the trusty Mississauga Civic Center where we know like the back of our hand to get some great capture of Shelly and Ragz. They are totally pros now after our engagement shoot! I wished we shot forever but the time table tells us it’s time for the couple to get back to change into their evening wear.

The reception brought us back to Apollo where the hall was transformed into a beautiful setting with a peacock blue theme. Everything tied in nicely to an eventful night where friends and family celebrated these two awesome individuals’ union!

I enjoyed working with Shelly and Ragz so much and can’t wait to start designing their album!

Sheila + Vasu {Wedding}

When I met with Sheila and Vasu and was told that their wedding is going to be held at the ROM, my eyes lit up! I have been to the ROM on numerous occasions as a kid and also at recent exhibits but never crossed my mind to cover a wedding there! The ROM offers a polished and modern setting with the Crystal and also historical architecture with the original building.

The day started out with Sheila and Vasu getting ready at the Park Hyatt. Everyone was having a great time in two the two suites where there must have been at least 20 people! We moved on to have their couple shoot before the ceremony around the ROM. It was pretty intense part of the day since we only had a limited time before the ceremony and we had to cover multiple exhibit halls. The staff at ROM were on the ball about everything and efficiently took us to ever location that Sheila and Vasu wanted photos at.

The ceremony was held at one of the function halls at the ROM where Sheila and Vasu had a clean and elegant setting in the hall. The ceremony went very smoothly with lots of beautiful emotions! Reception was held at the ROM’s main foyer where family and friends celebrated and the bridal party put on a great dance performance! The couple had a live band that really jazzed up the night, it was all about the experience and having a great time this night!

All the best Sheila and Vasu!

Steph + Derrick {Wedding}

I met Steph when she was a bridesmaid for Ann and Mike’s wedding in 2010. Really cool how Steph and Derrick met each other. Steph is from Toronto while Derrick is from Australia. Two people from the opposite sides of the world met up in Hong Kong and decides to settle there and get married!

The wedding was very relaxing and mainly a fun get together with all of Steph’s family and friends. Everyone was here to celebrate and to have a great time. The ceremony was simple and elegant with lots of emotions! Steph put a lot of thought into the details to keep the guests entertained. There were a lot of small games to keep the night going.

Everyone had an amazing time just catching up with each other!
Congrats Steph and Derrick!

Christine + James {Wedding}

Christine and James found me through one of Pris’ classmates and we meet awhile ago at a coffee shop near our place. Right away I knew they were a very easy going and fun loving couple! Super nice to deal with and just made everything very easy!

The wedding began with Christine’s getting ready at her friends beautiful home! The ladies were having a lot of fun since they planned the day so that nothing is cramped together and there was a lot of time to just enjoy the day!

The church is very dear to the couple as they are an active part of the community so tons of friends and family attended the beautiful ceremony.

After the ceremony was out of the way, thing became more relaxed and we moved on to Rosetta McClain Gardens for the photo session with the bride and groom and wedding party. Super energetic group and everyone was just having a lot of fun during this time! After a good time with the wedding party, we pulled Christine and James out for a few more intimate photos.

The night ended off with a reception dinner that the couple put a lot of thought into. The night was filled with funny speeches and awesome games! Even ended with some Rock Band!!

Remember to check out their crazy photobooth!!

Kat + Morgan {Wedding}

I had the chance to shoot for Kevin Lam awhile back for this wedding. This was our first time working together and I thought things went very smoothly on Kat and Morgan’s special day! Thanks for breaking the rules and trying out a Nikon second shooter for the very first time, Kevin!

The wedding day was a very casual and light day, the couple had spent a lot of time doing their own decors and it fit right into the beautiful, rustic environment that Berkeley Field House has to offer! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!! This wedding had Etsy written all over it!

Here are a few of my favourite images of the day!

Simat + JT {Wedding}

After two amazing E-shoots (Part i and Part ii), Simat and Jatinder’s big day has finally arrived. It was a week long festivity with guests coming from all over to celebrate the unity these two awesome individuals!

Simat and JT are truly awesome clients! They spent a great deal of time and effort into every detail to make sure the wedding ran smoothly. We had many conversations prior to make sure we had plenty of time to include everything, an important key in planning every wedding! Best of all, EVERYTHING WAS ON TIME!! For all future brides, if you cram the rundown of your wedding without allowing for things like travel time, traffic and people being late, you’re setting yourself up to be late!

The festivities started out with Sangeet parties for both sides of the family. These guys are all party animals! Family and friends showered Simat and JT their best wishes and blessings in the pre-wedding ceremonies.

The wedding day was eventful yet not jammed packed. We started out with the both sides getting ready. Like every wedding, everyone was running around trying to get everything ready for various rituals but at the same time, everyone was having a great time! The ceremony at the gurdwara was simple yet beautiful. JT’s family is in the textile business and own a factory with lots of cool machines! While this is very unique and I thought it was totally awesome, we figured that the factory is a bit too grungy for the wedding day. Having said that, I couldn’t give up the opportunity and we snuck in half an hour there to get some kick-ass shots! Finally, the reception was pretty crazy, close to 1000 people!! After a few speeches and performances, the party got started and the dances did not stop once it started! They even got me to dance!! I was terrible… Guests were having a blast with our photobooth too!

Simat and JT, you two deserve nothing but the best! We wish you a life time of joy and happiness together!

Caren + Nigel

My friend Chris from Avant Documentary Photography invited me to provide some secondary coverage for one of his weddings. It was quite refreshing as I have not done a Chinese wedding in awhile and this was a very traditional Chinese wedding.

Very relaxed wedding party and things worked out nicely for a lovely wedding!

Sana + Arman {Wedding}

Sana and Arman was the first couple that I signed for ROKChoi and that meant a lot to me that these guys entrusted me with their special day, so naturally, I would bend over backwards for them and I almost did when Arman and his crew decided stampede over Sana’s crew during his entrance!

Arman is from Dallas so we couldn’t squeeze in an engagement shoot to warm up, however, these guys were naturals and I really wished we had time to shoot more. Perhaps a shoot in Dallas? *hint hint*

I did not have any photos of these two together until after their entrance to the hall! That was a bit nerve wrecking. Despite a few hiccups on the wedding day, everything worked out in the end and we got some awesome material to work with!

Big thanks to Pris for coming along to help me out! Couldn’t have done it without you!

Sana and Arman, thank you for entrusting me with the opportunity to capture your wedding day, it was a pleasure to work with you guys and I wish you guys a life time of happiness!

Divine Elegance Model Shoot

This past weekend, I got together with one of my first brides, Kasthury, who is also a make-up artist! After a few failed attempts to schedule a shoot, we finally got it nailed down to a date and got to it. We had two models this shoot, Chinthiya and Abhi, whom were both beautiful and talented models. We went for a traditional Tamil bride look and also just a casual look. A lot of work goes into getting all decked out as a Tamil bride and Kasthury and Chinthiya definitely delivered!!

More photos in the works, stay tuned!

Albert + Hannah

This wedding was a second shoot job with my friend Chris @ Avant Documentary Photography. Working with different photographers is a challenge because everyone has their own style and workflow. I talk to Chris pretty much on a (week)daily basis (during working hours) so I’ve gotten to understand his philosophy on photography, what his workflow is like during the day and what type of shots make up his portfolio. Chris took (his sweet) time to get to know what I am like before inviting me to shoot a wedding with him. Having said that, I believe it is essential to establish a mutual relationship of respect before deciding to bring someone on board to work with as you are ultimately delivering a professional service for the lovely couples.

I began my day over at Albert’s place to cover some of the groom-side’s preparation. They were a fun bunch cracking jokes at each other, mostly at Albert. As all Chinese weddings progress on to, are games at the bride’s place. The guys were at the liberty of the ladies but they had Albert’s back on his quest to get to his beautiful bride. Weather cooperated when we reached Richmond Green for a lightly overcast day giving us some very soft light. The day ended in a beautiful banquet hall at Riveria Parque. There were lots of highlights during the day but my personal favourite was when Albert showed an amazing short clip of his conversation with Hannah’s all-time idol, ANDY LAU, and how he steals Hannah’s heart from Andy!!

All the best Hannah and Albert!
